Norman H. Smith Trophy

Awarded to the outstanding Full Member Club skipper of either a PHRF Spinnaker boat or a PHRF Non-Spinnaker boat for the best performance at Race Week using the Cox-Sprague Scoring System to consider the number of PHRF boats, this vintage trophy was designated by Officers of GSBYRA as the Norman H. Smith Trophy in 2009. Janet Stonecipher donated the 1907 Cruise Week 2nd Place trophy won by her grandfather Norman H. Smith racing Mischief to GSBYRA. The trophy honors Smith, captain of the Henry Ludlow, a ferry that ran between Babylon and Oak Beach. GSBYRA had the trophy professionally polished and a wood base built.
